WebTool
Program to check all links in a web page to verify that they are valid
Most recent release 2005/Jan/20

When a website has been in use for some time, it is easy for a few files to be accidentally deleted or not moved with other associated files when a site is reorganized.

WebTool is designed to check a web page for all references to other documents, and will verify that each document is accessible. It will check "href" references in links, "src" references in "img", "script" and "frame" tags, "action" references in "form" tags, and "code" references in "applet" tags.

It is optionally possible to continue checking other pages referred to through relative references, verifying links in a whole website.

WebTool can also be used to move a set of related pages and support files to a new machine.

WebTool is written in Java, so should be portable to almost all computers that have the Java runtime enviroment installed.

WebTool is made available free of charge on the understanding that no payment is expected for it, and no responsibility is accepted for any damage, loss or injury its use may cause.

To download WebTool, it is available in three forms:

Linux 66 K bytes: self-installing binary
Microsoft 225 K bytes: self-installing executable
Any operating system 67 K bytes: executable Jar file to run the program

Mail to Graham Freeman if any faults in the program are discovered.
