ACAL 2003 will be held within the old School of Computer Science (currently School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering) at the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) in Canberra, Australia.
ACAL 2003 will be held on the 6th and 7th of December 2003. These two days are Saturday and Sunday respectively. What this would normally imply in Australia is that you have to be careful not to miss the bus because the bus frequency is less than normal days (almost every hour).
There are a number of ways to get to ADFA roundabout (which is the stop for Taxis).
The first option is to get a bus. The only bus that comes to ADFA in the weekend is bus 33 which you would take from Civic (the city centre). Bus 33 will not leave you at the roundabout but it will leave you just at the door of ADFA. Look at the link of ADFA map at the end of this page to find the location of the bus stop. Be careful as the bus driver may not know and he/she drops you the stop before. On ADFA map, if you enlarge the map in paint or other programs, the right bus stop is the closest to building 15. We have marked it with the word BUS and a black solid line pointing to it.
To arrive to the conference on time, you will need to catch this bus from civic platform 7 at 8:11am on Saturday and 8:08am on Sunday. We would advise to be at the bus stop 5 minutes earlier. The buses leave on time. The bus timetable may be subject to change. You can access the latest timetable from http://www.action.act.gov.au/routes.cfm BUT make sure that you view the timetable for Saturday and Sunday; NOT the timetable for weekdays.
The second option is to get a Taxi. A Taxi from civic would normally cost around AU$15.
The third option if you also wish to see Australia is to hire a car. In this case, you will need to locate ADFA on the map and find your own way.
You can use the following map for Canberra (it is not a good one but it will show you where ADFA is)
http://www.unsw.adfa.edu.au/about/maps/canberramap.html
The conference venue will be building 15. There will be signs to direct you to the building. The following link has ADFA map that you can use to find building 15
We have marked the way you need to walk from the roundabout to building 15 using a red solid line on the map.
If you cannot find your way, call me (Hussein) on my mobile 0402212977. The mobile will be off during the conference. If you do not have a mobile neither access to a phone, we would advise to take a Taxi for the first day till you know how to get to the place.
