A postgraduate course which provides a solid understanding of the theory and practice used to maintain security on computer systems and networks. Topics covered include: security risk analysis and response, human factors, user authentication and access controls, malicious software, software security, operating systems security, network attacks and responses, database security, and legal and ethical issues.
This course will be offered in mixed on-campus and distance modes. Resource material will provided on CDROM and via the ADFA Olive server. Lectures will be recorded when presented on-campus and then uploaded to the Olive server for distance students to access. Students are expected to work through the course material at a regular pace, as shown on the course schedule in the student course outline.
This course will next be offered in Semester 1, 2009.
