Description: This course explores the differences between analogue and digital signals; number systems and conversions; Binary arithmetic; Complement notation for negative numbers; Error detection and error correction codes; AND, OR and NOT operations; Formulation of Boolean expressions; Boolean theorems; Minimisation of Boolean expressions; Karnaugh maps for up to 6 variables; Analysis of sequential circuits; Stable and unstable states; Introduction to flip flops; algorithmic state machine approach to the description of digital circuits, analysis of synchronous sequential circuits, design of synchronous sequential circuits.
