Bio

Hussein is a Professor and Chair of Information Technology at the University of New South Wales at the Australian Defence Force Academy (UNSW@ADFA) in Canberra, Australia. He has a BA, B.Sc., PG-Dip, and Masters all from Cairo University Egypt, a M.Sc. from Edinburgh University Scotland, and a PhD from QUT Australia. He is the Director of the Artificial Life and Adaptive Robotics Laboratory at UNSW@ADFA, the Director of the university Defence and Security Applications Research Centre (DSARC) at UNSW@ADFA, an Advisory Professor at Vietnam National University, Ho-Chi Minh City, a senior member of the IEEE, a senior member of the Australian Computer Society (ACS), the chair of ACS National Committee on Complex Systems, the chair of the IEEE Task Force on Complex Adaptive Systems and Artificial Life, and a member of a number of national and international committees including the IEEE technical committee on Data Mining and the IEEE working group on soft computing in the SMC society.

Teaching

I teach a variety of IT and Operations Research subjects including Decision Analysis, Knowledge Based Systems, Data Mining, Soft Computing, Modern Heuristic Techniques, Computational Optimisation, Management Science for Engineering, Complex Adaptive Systems, Artificial Intelligence
